WOW!

Listen to the others, do not focus only on your own part.
Your are all part of a single individuality, of a single overall sound.
MUSICAL PAGES n.1
(2019)
for flute, clarinet and bassoon
performed at Royal College of Music
This is a studio piece.

I found myself 'forced' to write it.
It happened in the past two years that I slowly detached from writing music.
I find it too granted, simple, obvious.
I approached this work reflecting my feelings.
This is just a piece, as 'just' notes are the ones contained in it.
Pure technical inertia.
Going rehearsing, to the concert, predicting and forcing a reaction to the clapping of whom probably didn't even like the piece or the performance.
Why would you? I didn't want you to.
All this apathy and indifference that I felt is strongly reflected in this piece.
It just flows away, without leaving any trace or any relevant and significant emotion.
I don't want to sound nonconformist or eccentric.
I just feel detached from the contemporary music scenario right now.
I found myself researching something 'new', that could identify my artistic sensibility only once I stopped chasing it.

Emptying any pre-concept I had before:
I discovered music as sound, as energy. And it doesn't want to be a score.
These are also some of the reasons I struggled a lot to finish the Royal College.
I came here to study, but that was obstructing my research and my studies.
* The flute player struggled a bit and he didn't commit enough on the timbrical techniques. So the result is not totally according with what the score would suggest at times... *
MIGRANTI
(2015)
per orchestra d'archi
commissioned by Orchestra Da Camera Fiorentina
GERMINAZIONE
(2021)
- quartetto d'archi in nove movimenti -

To represent sensorially, visually, timbrically, the macro-concept of 'seed' and its germination: which is the foundation of any form, abstract and concrete.
Quiescence.

The beginning of a sound is silence, then:
micro-sonorities, slightly perceptible, appear.
Musical-theatrical gestures.

We break the silence in a way which is randomic only in its appearance.
Breath.
This was a passion project.
